    Angelo “John” Tavernese, 82, of Chittenango passed away Tuesday at the V.A. Medical Center in Syracuse. John was born and raised in Canastota and was a life resident of the Canastota-Chittenango area. Prior to retirement, he and his brother Joe were partners operating Chittenango Floors, and later John was night supervisor of maintenance at Cazenovia College. He and his family are the owners of the Post Office plaza in Chittenango. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1958-1962 and was a member of the William Cain American Legion Post #1287 in Chittenango. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Chittenango and past superintendent of St. Patrick’s Cemetery. John was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Frances Tavernese, his brothers Leonard and Frank and his sister Frances Tornatore. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Linda Kinnetz, his son Dominick Tavernese of Cicero, his brother Jospeh Tavernese (Delores) of Chittenango and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango. Calling hours are 5-7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Church or the William Cain American Legion Post #1287.

    Linda and family, Very sorry to learn of Angelos passing...I worked with him for many years at Cazenovia College (and he worked with my uncle John before that) and he was always a true gentleman and a pleasure to have known.
