    May 10, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Jackie (Jack) Lee Buffington Jr., 47, of Chittenango, announces his passing on Monday May 10th, 2021.  Jack passed away suddenly from an infection that quickly spread through his body.  Jack was a life long resident of Chittenango. He was born in Syracuse to the late Jack and Jeannie Buffington (Walker). After attending Chittenango high school Jack began working at Tops (formerly P&C) and was quickly promoted to management for many years.  Jack then moved on to residential construction with MAP Dry Wall Company where he learned to become a master tradesman as a drywall finisher.  After many great years with MAP he then moved on to commercial construction with Hayner Hoyt of Syracuse. While working at Hayner Hoyt he also had a part time job as a property manager for over 10 years. Jack can be described as “an old soul” but he was always the “life of the party”.  He had an aura about him that was just so attracting to others.  His children were his pride and joy.  He had his own quirky ways of showing his love to his kids with a love tap upside the head or telling them that he loved them over and over until they said “Ok DAD!”.  Jack worked hard to provide for his family.  He enjoyed being with his friends and family.  He loved listening to music that was beyond his years.  One of his favorite things to do in his down time was to spend that time at his camp with family and friends at Brennan’s Beach Resort.  Most of all he loved driving his golf cart around and stopping at friends to say hello or share a laugh. Jack is survived by his fiancé/life long partner of 16 years Jill Horton and their 2 children Jayden Lin Buffington (10) and Jackie Lee Buffington III (6).  Jack is also survived by his sisters Jeannie M. Buffington of Oneida and Wendie L. Buffington of Chittenango, as well as his half sister Laurie LaCombe of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Private services have been entrusted to the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, Chittenago. In lieu of flowers a  GoFundMe page has been set up by loved ones to help alleviate some of the unexpected expenses and any excess funds with be put into a trust for Jack’s children. https://www.gofundme.com/f/sudden-loss-of-jack-buffington by Laura Christian.
