JAMES D. ARMSTRONG
March 1, 2021James “Jim” Armstrong, 65, of Chittenango passed away Monday at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Syracuse, the son of James and Betty Armstrong, Jim was a life resident of Chittenango. He was the grocery manager and union steward at P&C and the Tops Market in Chittenango retiring in 2020 after 43 years. Jim was a member of the Chittenango United Methodist Church. He was an avid NY Giants, San Francisco Giants and Montreal Canadians fan, enjoyed his poker games and pitch league at the Ten Pin and had played softball in several leagues in the Chittenango area. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary A. Armstrong, his son James F. Armstrong of Chittenango, his brother, Gary Southard of Oxnard, CA., his sisters, Andrea Armstrong of Phoenix, AZ. and Eileen Eckel of Baldwinsville, several nieces and nephews, his good friends Scott Worthley and T.J. and Scott Barrett and his dog Saffy. His family would like to thank Jackie Giddings, Jims sister-in-law for being by his side and Marlene Robinson for the wonderful care she provided in caring for Jim. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St. Liverpool, NY 13088.
