    James “Jim” Pickard, 81, of Dewitt passed away Saturday at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, Jim resided in Fremont for 20 years moving to Dewitt 15 years ago. Jim was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Manlius for 31 years retiring in 2004. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Jim was a member of the Fayetteville Lodge Free and Accepted Masons and was an avid bowler serving as secretary of the Fayetteville Commercial bowling league at Green Lakes Lanes for many years and an avid golfer as a member of Old Oak Golf Course. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Shirley Scheuer, his daughters, Pamela Schaff of Connecticut and Cynthia Pickard of Cicero, his brother Wilson “Sonny” Pickard (Cynthia) of Kirkville, his granddaughter, Morgan Schaff and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be private. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Dewitt. Contributions in his memory may be made to the SPCA, 5878 E. Malloy Rd. Syracuse, NY 13211.

    I remember Jim as a good friend to my Dad "Bucky". They played softball together, seriously- like they were major leaguers. Always had fun. He would stop by when Dad was out under the tree in the summer and both would try to solve the problems of the world. RIP "Pick" the Taylor family
