Richard D. Perry, 84, of Chittenango, New York died peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born to Velton and Emily (Farley) Perry on November 11, 1934 on Mill Street in Cazenovia in the cottage hospital of his grandmother, Louella Wright. Dick grew up in the hamlet of Lyndon in Fayetteville, along with his five sisters. Dick graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1953, where he was the president of Student Council and played basketball and baseball. Following his graduation from Le Moyne College in 1957, he was hired by Thomas & Betts Corporation where he worked as a professional salesman for 43 years before retiring in 2000.

On August 20, 1960, Dick married the love of his life, Carol Ann Beacham of Fayetteville, NY. Truly, their match was made in heaven. They were married in the original Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville. Together, they raised their five sons in Chittenango, where Dick was a communicant of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church.

Dick Perry loved God, Carol, Family, Friends and Golf. He was an outstanding father, always supportive of his sons, their school-related activities, and athletic games. Dick helped start the youth soccer program in Chittenango that grew to a successful high school program. Dick, who grew up with the Lyndon Golf Course in his backyard and played on the Le Moyne College golf team, passed on his love of the game to his five sons. He was a longtime member of Cazenovia Golf Club, and later Woodcrest in Chittenango. What Dick relished the most about golf was the friendships made on the golf course. In October of 2015, while playing at The Onondaga Golf and Country Club with his son Joe, Dick made his first hole-in-one on the 127-yard No. 8.

Dick was predeceased by his parents, Velton and Emily Perry; parents-in-law Howard and Agnes Beacham; sister, Jeannine Gabrielson; and sister, Aggie Lou Perry. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carol; his sisters, Loretta Henderson of Fayetteville, Suzanne Mueller of Jamesville, and Sarah Tedd of Florida. His sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Mary Anne, Joseph and Nancy, Christopher and Patty, Gregory and Jane and Ted and Michelle Perry. His 15 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kelly (Dan Giorno), Michael, Hannah, Maggie, Nicholas, Grace, Christopher, Trey, Jack, Velton, Georgia, Joseph, Wyatt and Paige. His many dear nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Murray Dr. Chittenango. Private burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Chittenango. Calling hours will be 4-7 pm Monday, October 21, 2019 at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango.

Dick introduced and taught his children and grandchildren the game of golf because he understood the values that are associated with this game. He was a life-long lover of the sport - everything about it. In memory of Dick, please make donation to https://www.thefirstteesyracuse.org/
