    Roderick W. Barrett, 72 of Canastota passed away Saturday at the Oneida Healthcare Center. Born in Syracuse, Rod was a resident of the Canastota-Chittenango area the past 28 years. Rod was a truck driver for 30 years retiring from the McLane Company  in Baldwinsville in 2011. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Viet Nam War. Rod raced 4-wheelers for 15 years and was a member of  the Western New York Offroad Association and also the Ormsby Pond Club. He enjoyed classic cars and  Jeeps, playing cards and being a true outdoorsman hunting fishing and camping. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Marie Barrett and a granddaughter, Emma. He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Jennifer Barrett, his sons Scott Barrett (Christie) of Chittenango and Thomas “TJ” Barrett (Rachel) of Morrisville, his daughter, Carly Barrett (Kevin) of Cicero, his grandchildren Ashlie, Chelsea, Jessika, Kylie, Scotty, Rainah, Lyric, Tori, Dezi, Kevin and Quinn, his great-grandchildren Holden, Briseis, Braydon, Brody, Ali, Payton and Kolton. Calling hours will be 4-7 pm Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango.

    Jen and family...we are so sorry for your loss! Rod always had us in stitches! We have many funny memories of him. Rod was a great guy! Always there to lend a hand, and game to try anything! We love all of you’s, holler if you need anything!
