    Arthur S. Williams, 98 years young of Chittenango, has passed away peacefully Friday May 10th at Oneida Healthcare Center. He was born in Syracuse, February 23, 1921 to Harry L. Williams and Nellie (Johnson) Williams. As a Central New Yorker, he resided in Syracuse, Oneida, Cazenovia, and Clockville. His home though, was always Chittenango where he lived his youth, later raised his children, and spent his final years. During World War II Arthur served in the Coast Guard and was stationed in Honolulu. Upon returning home he started a business as an owner/partner/pilot of the Cazenovia Airport, Madison County Aero Dusters Inc. specialized in crop dusting, delivery and emergency services. It was also the home of the Cazenovia Flying Club and housed a stable on the property where the Cazenovia College woman students would ride horses. When bringing up his family he worked for K B Allen Real Estate and then 38 years with General Electric/Genegraphics in Liverpool, with tours for the Heavy Military division on Shemya Island, Alaska and in Diyarbakir, Turkey.

    Arthur was a member of the Chittenango Fire Department and a member of the William Cain American Legion Post #1287. He was also a communicant of the United Methodist Church. He attended Chittenango High School and was an alumnus of the West Palm Beach school. An audiophile, he enjoyed the music of the day meeting many Jazz greats along the way. Besides flying, he loved the outdoors and keeping his lawn and grounds in order. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He is predeceased by wife Martha L. (Hendrix) Williams, and his son, Gary E. Williams. He is survived by his son David S. (Chris) Williams, granddaughters Sheena and Tawny Williams, Jennifer (Jeremy) Discenza, and a grandson Doug E. Williams; great grandchildren Jacob, Madelyn, Lillian, and Carter. As to his wishes, he will be buried next to his loving wife Marty. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Cazenovia NY. Donations can be made to the Madison County Office of the Aging in Arthur’s name or the American Legion, or Boys Town, his favorite charity.
