    Seraph May Elliott, 91, of Chittenango entered into eternal life on April 12, 2019 at Menorah Park. May was born in Cambridge, NY on October 28, 1927 to the late Henry S Bates Sr. and Seraph Wallace Bates. She received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Hartwick College in 1949. She focused her nursing practice on caring for those suffering from mental illness and later served her community as a school nurse in the Chittenango School District. She faithfully served Presbyterian congregations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Chittenango for 40 years as a pastor’s wife while raising her two sons who benefitted greatly from her example. She was gracious, kind, and forgiving. She was resilient and steadfast in her faith, which was evident in her words and deeds every day. May was predeceased by her brothers John and Donald Bates. She is survived by her two sons, William M Elliott III of Olympia, WA and Bruce R Elliott of East Syracuse, her granddaughters, Rachel E Elliott and Shannon Elliott, and her brother Henry S. Bates Jr. of Cambridge, NY. A graveside service will be held at Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge, NY at 11am Saturday April 27th followed by a memorial service at Crossroads Community Church, 1751 Fyler Road Chittenango, NY on Sunday April 28th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse or World Vision International.
