    Melvin A. Denny, 84, of Chittenango passed away Monday at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, Melvin has been a resident of Chittenango since 1962. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War and continued serving with the 174th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard, “The Boys from Syracuse” retiring in 1989 after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Charles Miller American Legion Post #140 in Canastota and a life member of the American Air Museum in Duxford, England. He was an ardent craftsman of woodworking and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Edna Alberta Ricketts Denny , his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jason Schwab, his grandson Shaun Denny Williams and his brothers, Richard and Robert Denny. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Patricia Denny, his daughter, Coleen Berry (John) of Queensbury, NY and Sandra Williams (John) of Memphis, TN, his grandchildren, Tiffany, Christopher, Kyle, James, Matthew, Dan and  Emily, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Chittenango United Methodist Church, 205 Falls Blvd. Calling hours will be 5-7 pm Friday at the G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Charles Miller American Legion Post #140, 325 S. Peterboro St. PO Box 13, Canastota, NY 13032.
